About Me

Hi! I’m Karen Fox-Smith, and I write this blog

Beans Berries and Books

I began blogging to have a place to put my thoughts about negotiating mid-life. I’m a baby boomer, one of the 76 million babies born between 1946 and 1964. Beans Berries and Books is dedicated to creating a discussion about mid-life as a Boomer.

I write about things my friends and I talk about: adult children, grandchildren (the joys of our late life or the desire), working longer than we imagined we would, securing a retirement (alone for many of us) cooking for one (we are divorced and widowed and some of us never married), living alone (because statistics show that is what we are choosing more and more),  what we are reading, and trying to figure out how we can make our lives independent, fun, healthy, and joyous as we age.

I wanted to share with you the things I think about, write about, read, cook, and adventures I have. I started this blog over on blogger. You can read earlier posts there. Can’t wait to get to know all of you, and share ideas and adventures.

Finally, this is me: I’m an artist, writer, entrepreneur, fiber fanatic, yarn yearner, knitting enthusiast, crochet devotee, cat herder, jazz lover, coffee craver, language lover, word wizard, expert tiny/underappointed kitchen chef, writer of rhymes, creative supporter, philosophy reader, storyteller, daydream believer, bread baker, snow lover, teacher, mother, grandmother, gardener, sister, early riser, nostalgia seeker, art lover, blog writer, lurker, commenter, book reader, voter, walker, talker, ice cream lover, Pintrest pinner, lover of road trips . . . and there you have it!

Talk soon!
